Extracting images of slide animation

I'm trying to find a short-cut/automatic way of extracting images from slide animations.

As an example - I have a slide with a set of animations that reveal text (or other objects) in small chunks. What I want to do is (somehow) to examine the animations, figure out what parts of the slide are involved, then put just those components into an image and save it. (pptx attached)

Obviously because some animations are dynamic (eg pulse in the attached sample) some reasonable accommodation needs to be made between what the PowerPoint shows, and what the extracted image shows, but this is fairly easily manageable, once I have the basic process down.


The Selection and Visibility panel (Alt+F10) gives me the basic access to objects on the slide. However, I Still need to figure out how to reference,for example, sub-components of the text in the content placeholder.. Many of the objects I'll be working with are si9mple graphics, so this may not be too difficult.

The animation pane (Alt + A,C) seems to have eye-readable information about each animation, but I don't know how easy it will be to decode the internal representations.

Has anybody done this before? If so, I'd love to hear how you went about it. If not, I guess I have long hours with a relatively poorly documented object model :-(

Good question - I didn't make it over clear, did I :-(

Input to the magic function is a slideshow MyPresentation.pptx. Output is a set of images (preferably .png files) named using a combination of presentation name, Slide number and Animation number, somewhat like
MyPresentation-01-a.png <==Slide 1; animation a
MyPresentation-01-b.png <==Slide 2; animation b, et sim
MyPresentation-01-c.png
MyPresentation-02-a,png
MyPresentation-02-b.png
MyPresentation-03.png <== No animations in this slide ;-)
and so on.

These images will then be imported to a video production program, with an existing soundtrack, to make a short video that I can distribute.

**I know that PowerPoint can do this - somewhat - already**

However, the output is excessively bloated, very poorly and inconsistently synchronized with the sound, and subject to dropout as each slide changes. I'd rather create the set of images and do the soundtrack properly, and combine it using a video production software (Adobe Elements).

I've spent several hours exploring the object model, and it seems as though I have to reconstruct the image from scratch, emulating the animations and involving (probably):

with slide.timeline.effect (fx)
      .animation                    describes the animation behaviors
      .effecttype                   The type of effect
      .effectinformation            Information and
      .effectparameters             other parameters for the effect
end with

However it's going to take a whole load of trial - and even more error, hence my request to see if anybody has done this before.
