=SUMPRODUCT(--MID(A1,ROW(INDIRECT("A1:A"&LEN(A1))),1))

I would have written a macro in a loop from 1 to len of the cell value.but the above is an elegant solution where my macaro will be a cumbersome procedure.

guidance is requested.
